Feburary 27, 2010 Janette came to spend the night with me.

Here Janette is learning how to knit, I am showing her how
to cast on and do a simple change stitch.

She caught on real fast, she worked on it for some time.
She will be a good knitter some day like her grandma Rita.

After all that knitting, it was time for a little break for ice
cream so we have chocolate pudding over vanilla ice cream.

She gets a smile on her face which I capture.

After the break of ice cream. I introduce Janette
to the game of "Jacks". That was one game I played
with my friends in grade school during recess.
You learned to become good in it, to compete with each
others. Janette, says, "Ok, what do I do now?"

You start out throwing the ball and picking out one jack
and then catching the ball. when you get all them and
don't mess up, you try to get two at a time, then three,
until at the last you try to gather them all up in one hand
while the ball is up in the air. It is quite a trick.

She is finally getting the hang of it.

I get on the floor with her and show her how it is done
I am out of practice, but still pretty good.

Finally it gets late and bed time. Janette settles down in the
quest room down stairs. She chose a story book of some
pioneers. When she comes over she always picks out this
little doll I have, it's like a friend to her. The little doll that has
wings is a prayer doll, that repeats the prayer "Now I lay thee
down to sleep, I pray the Lord thy soul to keep."

I told her I had a book with pioneer story in it about my
grand father Peter McBride, if she wanted to read it. So
I went and got it.

So while I was finding it, she played with the dolls.

I brought her this book, it tells a brief story of him in it
with his father Robert McBride and family coming across
the plains with the Martin Hand Cart Company.

So here she is reading it. We had a wonderful evening together.

This is what it looked like the next morning, the mountains
were full of snow clear to the bottom.

This reminds me so much of the times we stayed with you when I was young. I have so many fond memories of those times. You were and are the best grandma ever!
